David Mamet takes a Mamet-esque poke at Hollywood in a location-invasion yarn about a big-budget film crew descending on a picturesque Vermont town to make a movie about, get this, ”purity.” Yep, those folks from Los Angeles are shallow, self-involved, and sleazy all right — but the quaint, quirky locals aren’t above capitalizing on their presence. While Mamet’s rapid-fire dialogue can be irksome and stagy, the film chugs along with a mock good-heartedness that spares no one.
