With this set of smart, swinging songs, Lea DeLaria makes a beguiling jazz vocal debut. She’s slyly ironic on Randy Newman’s ”Life Has Been Good to Me” and appropriately taut on Stephen Sondheim’s ”Losing My Mind” (graced by Howard Alden’s crystalline guitar). One only wishes she’d been given more opportunity to cut loose like she does on the gutsy finale: Tom Waits and Greg Cohen’s ”Straight to the Top.”
