An odd little English movie with a whimsical opening narration by ’80s fixture Boy George, The Wolves of Kromer is a fairy tale about a pair of fur-coat-wearing gay outcasts (Williams and Layton) who fall in love as they try to elude gay-bashing hunters. The two stars and the countryside look pretty, but the homophobia-and-hypocrisy message is awfully heavy-handed. Although Rita Davies sinks her teeth into the supporting role of the wicked housekeeper, Wolves still lacks bite.
