The breakout actor talks ''About Adam'' and ''Queen of the Damned''

Where you’ll see him Opposite Kate Hudson in About Adam, a comedy about a charming cad who seduces three sisters. ”It went well in Ireland when it opened,” says Townsend. ”But in England, they were morally irate.” Next Townsend will fill Tom Cruise’s old coffin as the vampire Lestat in Queen of the Damned, due next year. Currently he’s filming the thriller 24 Hours with Charlize Theron and Courtney Love. ”I’m trying to write [in] some more love scenes,” he says. ”For now, Charlize gets kidnapped and I don’t see her for the rest of the film. But I’m working on it.” On Being Damned ”I had to sing on stage,” says the Dublin-born actor of his role as Lestat, who, in this installment, becomes a rock star. ”But when I saw the 3,000 extras, I freaked. My mate from Ireland who was visiting said, ‘Don’t worry, I have tequila,’ so I got brained and went on. I had the best night of my life.”
