Oohs and Oscars

Your take on the Oscars is by far the best. Every year I look forward to reading what you have to say about the awards show, and I’m never disappointed. I laughed from start to finish.

Gladiator named Best Picture? Best Actor Russell Crowe? This has to be another ballot mishap. Did anyone check to see how many Academy voters are from Florida?

And the Oscar goes to…EW, for Best Performance by a Magazine for the excellent issue of before-during-and-after coverage of the Academy Awards!

‘Jack’ Flak

I was astounded by the parental reaction to their kids acting out routines from MTV’s Jackass (”MTV’s Pain in the Jackass”). Heck, any 2-year-old knows that fire can hurt — what’s wrong with these 12- and 13-year-olds? And what’s the matter with these parents that let their prepubescent kids watch R-rated flicks like Gladiator and Hannibal? I suppose that when their son eats the kid next door, the parents will sue Sir Anthony Hopkins.

Is it just me, or do kids seem to get dumber with each passing year? I remember growing up watching Evel Knievel shows, but not once was I tempted to hop on my bike and try to jump Idaho’s Snake River Canyon. I have a new show to pitch to MTV, specifically for these parents and their foolish children: I’ll call it Dumbass.
