On her fifth solo album, the ex-Throwing Muse once again marries her capsized-mind lyrics to lovely melodies. As usual, the results are exquisitely unsettling; like a character in one song, her spooky folk-pop is ”nice, but twisted” — pretty on the surface, until you start to suss out what she’s saying. ”Let the ache out/Spread it around,” she sings on ”Silica,” and that’s just what she does, beautifully.
