The Black Mountain poet has recorded with saxist Steve Lacy and psychedelic rock band Mercury Rev; here he reads lovely new works with no accompaniment but the rustle of paper. Creeley’s grandfatherly voice (he’s 74) is filled with fatigue, but not necessarily discontent. Friends and family are enduring inspirations, even as he loses himself in contemplation: ”It’s sometimes hard to be a human/Arms and legs get often in the way.” A-
