Savor the delicate machinations of composer-bassist Allison with pianist Frank Kimbrough, who makes his instrument sound almost like a harpsichord by placing subway passes between the strings on ”Swiss Cheese D.” Or the way normally clashing tones are refreshingly juxtaposed on ”Charlie Brown’s Psychedelic Christmas.” Or the chimes-like clarity Allison’s seven musicians attain on Michael Blake’s ”Harlem River Line” — the high point of a set rich with subtleties.
