Here’s a supergroup of non-stars, including Jules Shear (whose bleat on ”You Can Let Go Now” is magnificent), Stones/Big Star producer Jim Dickinson (whose croak on ”Nobody Loses” is awful), plus bassist Harvey Brooks, who’s backed everyone from Dylan to Miles Davis. The result courts the paradox of the Traveling Wilburys: laid-back vigor, resulting in songs that never seem essential, yet are rarely less than charming. B
