This grrrl group’s self-titled debut was one of the best releases of 2000. Its seven-song follow-up features more punk polemics, rhythmic sound collages, and lo-fi gizmo music from Kathleen Hanna (ex-Bikini Kill) and ‘zine queen Johanna Fateman. Only 17 minutes long, but economy is a virtue in Le Tigre’s world. ”It feels so ’80s/Or early ’90s/To be political,” they drone like robotic cheerleaders on the caustic call to arms ”Get Off the Internet!” When they sing the zombie stomp ”Mediocrity Rules,” sarcasm is their lead instrument.
