As offensively calculated as the book was simple, soulful, and smart, the soundtrack to Jim Carrey’s latex-fest Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas at least bomps merrily along for the ”naughty” first half, with rollicking tracks from Busta Rhymes, Smash Mouth, and the Eels. The ”nice” second half, however, goes kerflooey thanks to James Horner’s second-rate orchestral score and cuts from ‘N Sync and Faith Hill of such glutinous, corporate holiday cheer that Dr. Seuss himself would flee for Mount Crumpit.
