In Stranger, which may be the most perverse love story ever written, Kyra Sedgwick and David Strathairn play two potentially lethal psychotics who meet on an airplane. Craig Lucas (Prelude to a Kiss) is one of our sneakiest, most idiosyncratic playwrights. His themes have a tendency to slip in through a side window. But although this play contains several surprising twists — and so much action it required the aid of a ”fight director” — the meaning slides right past us, leaving behind a sense of grisly confusion.
