Whistle Bait! and Ain’t I’m a Dog! are two 25-track celebrations of that aberrant ’50s phenomenon, rockabilly, which crossed country tradition with rock’s raised middle finger. Bruce Dickinson and Eddie Gorodetsky understand rockabilly’s wild heart; these songs leap from the speakers like half-crazed, priapic cartoons. With lots of overlap between the discs — Johnny Horton, Link Wray, Marty Robbins, the prepubescent Larry Collins — all but fanatics will be served almost as well by either as by both. Bait and Dog: B+
