Mike Figgis (Time Code) is one of the most eclectic, electric filmmakers working today, and he’s found his muse in Deep Blue Sea‘s Burrows. With Miss Julie, he takes an August Strindberg play set in 1894 Sweden and juices it to life with dynamic camera work and savvy casting. Ah, but Burrows is a cruel mistress, forcing her footman (Phil Hartman doppelganger Mullan) into a degrading affair. Don’t, Miss Julie! And don’t miss Julie. A-
