On Phish’s likable but slight 11th album Farmhouse, the Vermont jam band do away with much of the goofy humor and musical meanderings that irk their puzzlingly vehement detractors. Instead they opt for a series of sunny, retro-ish pop songs that don’t fully show off their instrumental strengths. The result is both pleasant and a little dull, like an expertly cooked slab of flounder. At least they didn’t call it Pharmhouse. B
