Formerly Common Sense, but probably afraid it sounded too didactic, high-minded Chicago rap vet Rashid Lynn aka Common faces a problem: how to get over in a market that disproportionately rewards thugs. Roughing up his delivery on Like Water for Chocolate, he comes up with a cross-purposed tour de force. Pros: guests Femi Kuti, Mos Def, DJ Premier, and his dad. Cons: disrespecting gays. Whatevers: the pimp skit. Guy wants to ”save children” and ”make millions.” Good luck. B
