The bitter queen of scorned women everywhere is back: Olivia Goldsmith, author of the best-selling First Wives Club (which inspired the 1996 film) returns to her revenge-fantasy roots with Young Wives, a gleefully trashy tale of three young wives whose marriages go predictably awry. Friends Michelle, Angie, and Jada all seem bent on preserving their unions with their deceitful husbands, until drug busts, custody battles, and skanky other women force them to concoct an elaborate payback scheme — the merry highlight of which involves Krazy Glue and Polaroids. Although the tale doesn’t stray far from First Wives territory, it’s still guilty fun. C+
