We’re supposed to be endeared to the titular desperadoes, an amiable pair of ne’er-do-wells who steal from the rich and give to themselves, and their adventures, as directed by Jake Scott (son of Ridley), are designed to be wittily rambunctious. But try as they might, these two actors — so winning together in Trainspotting — can’t make you overlook the film’s conveniently episodic and lackluster nature. And let’s not even get into Liv Tyler’s British accent…. C+
