The selling of The WB‘s sharpest drama continues, thanks to this bloodless addition to the ever-expanding Buffy library. More a vehicle for ”32 pages of full-color photos!” than anything else, Yearbook offers a slew of fictionalized write-ups about characters and places that are, in most cases, only tangentially related to the show (e.g., bios of the two blink-and-you’ll-miss-’em characters who beat Sarah Michelle Gellar’s Buffy and Charisma Carpenter’s Cordelia in the homecoming-queen competition). Ultimately, Yearbook scrapes the bottom of the trivia sarcophagus: Even having seen every episode, I couldn’t place some of the so-called key references, like the endless rosters of Sunnydale’s sports teams. About as informative as a rerun—and not nearly as entertaining. C-
