Following in the footstomps of Jackie Chan and Sammo Hung, martial artist Jet Li is the latest Hong Kong action-movie vet to come to Hollywood. Unfortunately, this film (made before Li’s dazzling appearance in Lethal Weapon 4) is hardly the best showcase for his considerable talents. The story (which has biologically enhanced terrorists wreaking havoc in Hong Kong) and acting are decent by the genre’s standards, but the action is so murky and awkwardly edited that Li’s almost balletic skill is nearly lost. Reel Goodies (1:00) A brief but exciting fight high above the ground at an oil refinery. The Last Detail Producer Tsui Hark directed Jean-Claude Van Damme in Double Team and Knock Off. C
