The Ronettes were the archetypal ’60s tough-girl group, and lead singer Spector was the toughest of them all. She sounds more fragile than belligerent now, and her bruised, cracked vocals work wonders on the Beach Boys’ ”Don’t Worry Baby.” Unfortunately, the remaining songs on this EP are banal at best, so we’re left with a unique voice in search of better material. B-
