Take the ”inspired by” in this collection’s title literally, as only half of the songs here showed up in The Wood. Still, there are enough bass-booming burners from the likes of the Roots and DMX to start a forest fire; unfortunately, the ragged mix of hardcore rap, middle-of-the-road R&B, and old-school hip-hop frequently comes off as sonically schizophrenic.
