”Smile” so cannily stitches together chart-bound elements that it could have been hatched in a lab by Dr. Frankenstein. Lite scratching à la ”MMMBop,” an anemic reggae beat similar to Sugar Ray’s ”Fly,” cheery vocals by Vitamin C herself: It’s alive! ”Smile” is so horribly catchy, you won’t mind that like Frankenstein’s creature, it’s seriously lacking in the brain department.
