”Next Generation” fans might be captivated by this lat-est sequel, but if you’re only a casual Trekker you’ll feel a little disoriented, as if you forgot to read your Roddenberry Cliffs Notes. You’ll grasp that Picard and crew are trying to save a beleaguered extraterrestrial community, in a story punctuated by shipboard romance and Data’s consternation over the whole emotion thing. Basically a good rental choice for anyone stirred by such lines as ”Transferring positronic matrix functions!”
