We gave it a B+

Hip-hop producers regularly exploit the warm quality of LP surface noise. But leave it to German ingenuity — specifically audio engineer Stefan Betke — to transform signal interference into a musical language. Sounds dreadful, but Betke’s dub robotics are beautifully expansive, and the sputtering ”noise” that scaffolds them is fascinating. Nostalgic and futuristic, it’s a perfect soundtrack for pondering Y2K or romancing that special cyborg.
