The hasty, not-too-pretty memoir Surviving Myself by the ubiquitous 1970s model-turned-movie star (Summer of ’42) may reveal more than O’Neill intended. The appealing, ditzy candor with which she describes the low self-esteem that propelled her into eight misguided marriages gradually gives way to bitterness. After nine miscarriages and several near-fatal accidents, she finally realizes she’s been looking for love in all the wrong places and falls head over heels for God. Sadly, you’re left wondering just how long this latest honeymoon will last. B-
