February Sweeps aren’t even finished yet, and already Fox is busy planning its next Sure-It’s-Ludicrous-but-You-Still-Watch stunt. In what could be the wildest motorcycle ride since dad Evel Knievel attempted to jump over Snake River Canyon in 1974, the network is signing Robbie Knievel, who successfully executed a televised building-to-building leap in Las Vegas Feb. 4, to take on (gulp!) the Grand Canyon, as early as this May. ”It’ll be the least grand part of the canyon, but still very exciting,” promises Fox exec VP of specials Mike Darnell, who says the network was encouraged by the solid ratings (13.2 million folks) of the Vegas show. ”If I could, I’d have him jump over something every night during sweeps.” Could somebody please wheel out the 303-pound tumor?
