Think of ReplayTV as the VCR’s smarter little brother: a box that sits on your TV and digitally stores 6 to 28 hours of programming — without videotape. The technology allows you to pause Buffy — as it’s airing — and pick it up later without interruption, or record any John Wayne movie and create a constantly updated Duke channel. The gizmo, which won ”Best of Show” honors in the video category at this year’s International Consumer Electronics Show, retails between $699 and $1,499 and begins widespread shipments in March. A company rep reports one minor catch: ”Sometimes you don’t have time to watch any television. There are some things even ReplayTV can’t solve.”
