Going one step beyond VH1’s Behind the Music, ABC has got something for you, babe. Airing Feb. 22, the network’s two-hour original biopic, And the Beat Goes On: The Sonny and Cher Story, traces the rise and fall of the ’70s Steve and Eydie. ”I bought a lot of hair and noses to get this movie made,” notes exec producer Larry Thompson (the production’s 12 wigs and 19 noses cost $32,000). ”It’s a lot of work being Cher,” laughs actress Renee Faia, who was chosen for the job from more than 1,000 hopefuls. ”At one point it took four people to help me out of my trailer because my dress was so tight and the heels were so high.” Groovy.
