If Jennifer Love Hewitt can make records, why not grizzled movie vet Harry Dean Stanton? On the seven-inch single ”You Don’t Miss Your Water/Across the Borderline”, the actor (Repo Man) lends his seedy charisma to a countrified version of William Bell’s Stax standard, sung with an appropriately ragged Willie Nelson wail. The B-side Ry Cooder tune is less effective, but not bad for a guy who costarred in a Molly Ringwald film. B
