Woody Allen is lightening up. The famously neurotic auteur, long known for crafting small art-house projects, is showing a decidedly commercial streak of late. In October, Allen surprised audiences by lending his voice to Z, a kvetching worker in the animated comedy “Antz.” Now comes word that the “Celebrity” director is close to inking a deal to star in Peter and Bobby Farrelly’s next comedy, “Stuck on You.”

The film, from the duo behind the summer smash “There’s Something About Mary,” would have Allen playing one half of Siamese twin brothers joined at the hip. “The problem they have is if they ever got the operation, one would come through with flying colors, the other has a 50-50 chance of making it,” Bobby Farrelly says of the film, set to shoot next spring. As for the other twin, the casting door is open, thanks to a little plot twist. “Woody’s character doesn’t have a liver, so he’s aging at a horrible rate,” says Bobby. “So we can get two guys from different age groups.” Which is why the Farrellys would like to see someone like Matt Damon sharing Allen’s pants. Woody with a much younger partner? Who’s going to buy that?
