Looks like Brit-rock veteran Robyn Hitchcock might be primed for a renaissance, what with a classy solo concert film directed by Jonathan Demme and the tie-in soundtrack album Storefront Hitchcock. But if that comes to pass, it’s gonna be on Hitchcock’s terms; he’s a merry cynic with an unparalleled knack for making dark folly out of other people’s misfortune and misery — sorta like that other, more famous Hitchcock.
