Even some classics can use a bit of updating. Case in point: Black Sabbath. However groundbreaking their first works, the recordings sound brittle and constricted by today’s standards. That’s resoundingly corrected by the new live album Reunion, recorded at the foursome’s first reunion in 20 years, held last December in their native Birmingham, England. There’s more thrust and bottom, and more space for Tony Iommi’s evil leads. Even when Ozzy screeches wildly off-key, the album still sounds bloody brilliant. B+
