The Big Push for Jewel’s new album, ”Spirit,” (due Nov. 17) has begun. And unlike the publicity-shy Alanis Morissette, Jewel isn’t bashful about making the rounds on TV. On tonight’s episode of ”Dawson’s Creek,” Katie Holmes and James Van Der Beek will contemplate their newfound romance under a full moon — to the tune of Jewel’s new single, ”Hands,” which is making its network debut. (The song is No. 17 on the Billboard Hot 100 airplay chart; MTV and VH1 began playing the video last week.)

Next, Jewel will have her guitar in tow (and hopefully leave the book of poetry at home) for appearances on ”Saturday Night Live” (Nov. 14), ”Late Show With David Letterman” (Nov. 26), ”The Rosie O’Donnell Show,” and ”The Tonight Show With Jay Leno.” The singer’s debut album, ”Pieces of You,” produced the hits ”You Were Meant for Me” and ”Who Will Save Your Soul,” and sold 8 million copies.
