This ''Name that Tune''-style game is all the rage

In the grand tradition of Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon comes The ’80s Lyrics Game, a Name That Tune-style bar pastime for the MTV generation. Using a massive list of ’80s lyrics from the Net — no one knows how the project got started, although people add to it often — players try to identify the titles and artists of hundreds of Jordache-era ditties. ”It becomes so addictive because you read one lyric, and for three days you’re obsessing,” says Frank R. Scatoni, who coauthored Who Can It Be Now?, a book on the craze that will be published by Simon & Schuster in November. Think it’s easy? Try your hand at these sample lyrics:

”She wants to multiply. Are you gonna do it?”
”We’re living in a powder keg and giving off sparks.”
”Kissing like a bandit stealing time.”
”Ooh babe, lost in love is what I feel.”
”Straddle the line in discord and rhyme.”
”Now your mom threw away your best porno mag.”
”You make the sun shine brighter than Doris Day.”
”Kiss me baby; let the fire get higher.”
”My heart does double beats for you.”
”You’re a candle in the window on a cold, dark winter’s night.”
