On Yankee B.’s debut Mucho Dinero, this Kingston, Jamaica-to-Jamaica, N.Y., transplant furthers hip-hop’s ongoing exchange with the mighty island. Busting out over a vintage dancehall rhythm, B. later tag-teams with rap heavyweight Big Pun and rhymes over versions of Bob Marley’s ”War” and Marvin Gaye’s ”Sexual Healing,” to mixed effect. The dubs flow better than the hip-hop/R&B at this point, but alongside Finley Quaye’s latest, this advances a promising new breed of reggae-rap alchemists. B
