James Brown, Aretha Franklin, John Lee Hooker, Jake and Elwood Blues are still the heart of this overstuffed, genial comedy. And since The Blues Brothers collector’s edition expands its best parts with 12 extra minutes of music and stunts — no musical ever had more car crashes and no car crashes ever went further over the top — the flick feels sprightlier. There’s also a solid 56-minute making-of docu in which director John Landis tells a sad story of throwing out some of Belushi’s cocaine, getting into a furious row with the actor, and seeing him storm off the set, flag down a car, and demand a ride to the Chateau Marmont. Oddly, Landis thinks the story is amusing. The movie: B The extras: B
