Those wacky tenors are at it again, serving up vocal snippets from high and low culture, selling out arenas, and selling out in other ways, too. On this live recording, Luciano Pavarotti, Placido Domingo, and Jose Carreras perform 25 separate pieces, including arias with those boring operatic bits removed, ”O Sole Mio,” and, for poppy measure, ”Because.” It all adds up to a forgettable, digestible package tailored for the crowd that loves a spectacle and takes its culture in tidy sound bites.
