Back is Brown’s most enjoyable long player to date, with the stylish crooner/axman waxing sensitive on the heart-on-sleeve ”Read ‘Em and Weep,” finding goofy inspiration on the campy Elvis Presley throwaway ”Rock-A-Hula Baby,” and swapping his trademark twang for a Hendrixian acid-blues tone on ”Keepin’ Up With You.” A-
