We realize we had it coming. We were the ones who decided to name Hollywood’s 25 Greatest Actors (#444, Aug. 7), and in so doing, we all but begged EW readers to tell us what we did right and how we went wrong. ”Bravo for including the enormously talented William H. Macy, Johnny Depp, and Ving Rhames. Shame for overlooking the innovative John Cusack,” says Melinda K. Susan of Arcata, Calif. ”No place on your list for Kenneth Branagh?” asks Ngoc Vu of San Jose, Calif. ”O, what a noble mind is here o’erthrown!” Melanie Billings of Enoree, S.C., wants to champion the Billy Bob Thornton cause: ”He should be on the list simply for being the only believable character in Armageddon.” And, for those who lobbied for a list of the 25 greatest actresses, keep your eyes peeled; it’s on the way.

Kudos for your wonderful piece on Hollywood’s 25 Greatest Actors. I couldn’t agree more with your choices, past, present, and future! Nicolas Cage, Kevin Spacey, Tom Hanks, and all the others are the steadfast actors that make us love them and love going to the movies!

EW, you’ve outdone yourself! Twenty-five of the greatest indeed! I cannot thank you enough for making the list without turning it into Hollywood’s 25 Faces Guaranteed to Sell a Magazine.

Upon receiving the issue featuring your list of the 25 greatest actors, I must say that I was skeptical. I expected that you’d leave out a bunch of actors that I love. I don’t think I could have compiled a more accurate list myself. It’s issues like this that keep me subscribing after six years. Can’t wait to see your list of actresses.

I was reading your 25 greatest actors of the ’90s and I was very surprised. How could you leave off Tommy Lee Jones?

Your article on the 25 greatest actors of the ’90s was fabulous. It’s about time that Alec Baldwin is put on a pedestal for his work. He is truly a master of his craft.

Alec Baldwin?! wasn’t Jean-Claude Van Damme available? And I’ll take Gary Sinise over the entire Baldwin clan, and you can even toss Kim Basinger into the mix!

At first I thought that this story would be a tasteless display of biased brownnosing, but you really managed to pull off the 25 greatest actors of the ’90s. I can’t wait for the 25 greatest actresses to show up.

Size Doesn’t Matter

I would be more humiliated admitting I spent $2,000 on a black leatherette catsuit [”Peterman’s Peel,” Style] than I would be admitting I needed it in a size 12.

The Barenaked Truth

I loved your piece on the Barenaked Ladies. Their music is quite distinctive, and they have sure come a long way since the day they were banned from playing at Toronto City Hall because their name was ”politically incorrect.” You go, Ladies!
