The 'Borrow' and the Pity
Despite receiving a slight boost from paranoid analysts of current events, Wag the Dog finished outside of the top 10, at No. 12. This week’s hot vid was The Borrowers. True to its name, the tape rented solidly, moving 28 copies per store to land in fourth place. But it sold only an unremarkable 3.5 copies per store, finishing just behind a repriced edition of The Full Monty. By comparison, Mouse Hunt, another kids’ film pitting tiny beings against large humans, rented 44 copies per store and sold 27 in its May debut.
