Music Review: 'Blue Planet'

On her self-produced follow-up to 1996’s platinum debut (which unleashed the megahit ”I Love You Always Forever”) breathy-voiced Lewis achieves more than just brain-grabbin’ pop. Sure, hook-happy tunes such as ”I Could Be the One” and ”Love Him,” (think Rickie Lee Jones groovin’ on the dance floor) are radio-ready. But when Lewis weds her pop sensibilities to ambient-lite soundscapes, the effect is surprisingly touching. B
