Age hasn’t diminished Jamie Lee Curtis’ bodacious lung power: In this sixth sequel to John Carpenter’s 1978 cheapie horror beaut, she’s still being stalked by a knife-wielding masked maniac. Only this time, Scream‘s Kevin Williamson has put his pop-cultural smarty-pants spin on slasher conventions, undercutting scaring with winking. The cast of nubile victims, many harvested from TV, is enlivened by the thrill-ing presence of Curtis’ mother (and star of Psycho) Janet Leigh, who lights up two brief scenes with her daughter. B
