A new song by Counting Crows will appear in the highly anticipated Matt Damon-Edward Norton gambling flick, “Rounders,” which hits theaters September 11. Facing an intense deadline, singer-songwriter Adam Duritz and the band finished recording the as-yet-untitled track yesterday in Los Angeles, according to the song’s producer, Dave Lowery (leader of the band Cracker). Lowery told EW Online that the tune will play behind the film’s opening credits. Meanwhile, the Crows are about midway through recording their next album, which should hit stores in the spring. “I think I’m gonna look like a genius when this record comes out,” says Lowery, “but that’s mainly because they’re writing great songs this time around.” The group’s three previous records have sold more than 10 million copies.
