”In the tradition of Risky Business,” says Trading Favors‘ video box, which depicts a gun-toting couple in a clinch. But surprise! This straight-to-tape ”comedy” lives up to none of its come-ons. There’s little chemistry between Arquette’s tattooed hellcat and the college-bound innocent (My So-Called Life‘s Gummersall) she takes on a highway holdup spree, nor much momentum to their road trip, which gets bogged down by emotional baggage. En route, Cuba Gooding Jr. (also billed) appears in one scene, while that gun-toting couple never shows up. Did someone say rip-off? D
