The scrappy bubble-punk foursome enters young adulthood with gawky grace on their bittersweetly crunchy sophomore effort, My Way or the Highway. While their lyrics sporadically veer into preciousness, the subtly twisted hooks and impish sisterly harmonies of singer-guitarists Melissa Farris and Margaret McCartney never disappoint. And sonic departures like the slinky antifashion anthem ”Paper Dolls” and the flamboyantly James Bondish ”Dr. Doom” neatly transcend alt-guitar-rock limitations. B+
