The first strains of this Norwegian quintet’s debut, She Gave Me Love, make one wonder how five lads from Europe’s great white north managed to conjure up such roots-rocking bluesy funk. Their homeland predecessors A-ha clearly had little influence on them. Still, these People couldn’t resist throwing in some hallmarks of the Scandinavian hit parade: a modicum of smiley-face attitude and a sing-along chorus from sugar-pop heaven. B
