On his sixth full-length album, singer-guitarist Keene continues to crank out the kind of minor gems he’s built his rep on, sanding off the overly rough edges of 1996’s transitional Ten Years After so that Isolation Party feels more of a piece with his earlier, more pristine work. Power-pop enthusiasts should find plenty to admire in these melodically acute tunes, although true highlights are in short supply. (For a taste of Keene at his peak, neophytes should check out the ’94 compilation The Real Underground.) B-
