FASTBALL ”The Way” (Hollywood) Austin’s campy, roots-rock-tinted Fastball nail the power-pop concept, with pounding piano, Duane Eddy axwork, and a cheesy south-of-the-border motif that manages to out-cantina Marty Robbins’ classic ”El Paso.” Then the slacker-slamming lyrics sink in, and the cut’s wicked hilarity surfaces. That’s right: Fastball are laughing at you, not with you. B+
