David Duchovny couldn’t save the paunchy Playing God, but there’s a bit of redemption in its funky soundtrack. Snippets from Richard Hartley’s score are suitably dense and hellish, as is a no-brainer industrial cover of ”These Boots Are Made for Walkin”’ by Family of God. Worth the price of admission: the Propellerheads’ techno-thrum ”Spybreak” and Morcheeba’s catatonic ”Trigger Hippie.” C+
